History – Thaidene Nëné National Park Reserve

Established in 2019 under agreements with the Lutsel K’e Dene First Nation, Thaidene Nëné preserves cultural heritage and natural ecosystems. Indigenous communities historically hunted, fished, and traveled across these lands. Park management focuses on conserving lake chains, boreal forests, tundra, and wildlife habitat while enabling Indigenous-led tourism. Scientific studies monitor caribou migrations, water quality, and forest health. Interpretive programs highlight Indigenous knowledge and ecosystem conservation. The park balances ecological protection with recreational access.
