History – Tankwa Karoo National Park

The reserve formed to protect Karoo biodiversity and to link conservation areas across the semi-arid interior. Park managers emphasized low-impact tourism and scientific monitoring to conserve unique plant assemblages and to protect connectivity for adapted mammals.
