History – Namaqua National Park

The park formed to conserve the rich succulent Karoo flora and protect seasonal wildflower habitats. Local communities and scientists worked to designate conservation zones and create visitor routes that minimize disturbance to fragile plant communities. Management focuses on habitat protection and visitor education.
