History – Garden Route National Park

The Garden Route park formed through inclusion of several adjacent reserves to protect a continuous coastal corridor. Authorities combined key forest areas and marine sites to better manage habitat and recreation. Local communities and tourism grew around woodlands and coastal towns that connect to the park.
