History – Forillon National Park

Established in 1970 to protect the peninsula’s cliffs, beaches, forests, and marine ecosystems, Forillon also preserves historic fishing villages. Before park creation, land supported fishing, agriculture, and seasonal use by Indigenous communities. Park management created trails, campgrounds, interpretive centers, and signage to balance visitor access with conservation. Wildlife monitoring and habitat management programs protect marine and terrestrial species. The park became a site to promote environmental education and maintain natural and cultural resources for future generations.
