History – Augrabies falls national park

Conservation interest in the Augrabies gorge dates back to early protection orders; the park was formally established to conserve the falls, canyon, and surrounding dryland habitats. Infrastructure developed to provide viewpoints, trails, and interpretive signage, while research focused on erosion, river flow, and specialized plants and animals.
