History – Agulhas National Park

Agulhas formed to protect coastal and fynbos habitats at the southern tip of the continent. Authorities created the park to preserve rare plant communities and to protect maritime heritage such as the historic lighthouse and shipwreck records. Local communities worked with conservation agencies to build visitor services and interpretive trails that keep sensitive habitats intact while allowing public access.
